Fintech

Digital banks, payment apps and financial platforms, engineered secure and compliant from Atlanta's payments hub.

Akkurat Softwarehouse builds fintech products — digital banks, payment apps, wallets and financial platforms — for companies in Atlanta, Georgia and across the United States. Atlanta is not an accidental place to do this. The metro area processes a large share of the country’s card payments and is known in the industry as “Transaction Alley,” home to some of the biggest names in payments. We build fintech software with the security, reliability and compliance that this market demands.

Financial software is unforgiving. Users trust it with their money, regulators expect strict controls, and a single security gap or downtime window can end a product. Our team has shipped real financial products, and we engineer every one of them to be secure by design, resilient under load, and ready for the scrutiny that comes with handling money.

Fintech products we build

  • Digital banking apps — accounts, balances, transfers, cards and statements in a fast, intuitive mobile experience.
  • Payment apps and wallets — send, receive and store funds, with QR, peer-to-peer and merchant flows.
  • Card and account management — issuing, controls, limits and real-time notifications.
  • Lending and financial platforms — applications, scoring workflows, dashboards and back-office tools.
  • Integrations with processors, banking-as-a-service providers, KYC vendors and open finance APIs.

Security and compliance first

In fintech, security is the product. We build with encryption in transit and at rest, strong authentication and biometrics, role-based access, and full audit trails. We design for the requirements financial products face — KYC and identity verification, anti-fraud controls, and the data-handling standards expected around payment information. From the first architecture decision, we plan for how the system will be audited, monitored and defended, not as an afterthought bolted on before launch.

Our process

1. Discovery & regulatory scope

We map the product, the money flows and the compliance obligations early, so nothing about identity, fraud or data handling is a surprise later.

2. Prototype & architecture

We prototype the user experience and design a secure, scalable architecture at the same time — the experience users feel and the safeguards they never see.

3. Agile development

We build in sprints with continuous testing, delivering working, secure increments you can review every two weeks.

4. Testing, hardening & launch

We test for functionality and for abuse, harden the system, and handle a careful rollout with monitoring and alerting in place.

5. Monitoring & scale

After launch we watch performance and security around the clock and scale the infrastructure as transaction volume grows.

Technology we work with

We use proven, secure back-end frameworks, encrypted databases, and cloud infrastructure that scales elastically with transaction volume. We integrate with payment processors, banking-as-a-service platforms, identity and KYC providers, and open finance APIs. Native iOS and Android front-ends give users a fast, trustworthy experience, while a hardened back end keeps every transaction consistent and traceable.

Why fintech teams choose Akkurat in Atlanta

You get a team that has built financial products before and understands what is at stake, working from the heart of the U.S. payments industry. Communication is clear and in English, with senior engineers and a single point of contact. You own the source code and infrastructure, and you get a predictable plan because we scope the security and compliance work up front, not after something breaks.

Frequently asked questions

Do you build digital banks and payment apps?

Yes. We build digital banking apps, payment apps, wallets and card and account management platforms, including the integrations with processors and banking-as-a-service providers that make them work.

How do you handle security and compliance in fintech?

Security is designed in from the start: encryption, strong and biometric authentication, role-based access and audit trails, plus support for KYC, identity verification and anti-fraud controls. We architect for how the product will be audited and monitored, not just how it will launch.

Can you integrate with our payment processor or BaaS provider?

Yes. We regularly integrate with payment processors, banking-as-a-service platforms, KYC and identity vendors, and open finance APIs, and we can recommend the right partners if you have not chosen yet.

Why build fintech in Atlanta?

Atlanta processes a large share of U.S. card transactions and is a global center of the payments industry, with deep local talent and partners. Building here means working close to the expertise, infrastructure and network that fintech depends on.

Will we own the code and infrastructure?

Yes. You own the source code and control your cloud infrastructure. We hand everything over and can continue to maintain, monitor and scale the platform after launch.

What we build in fintech

Digital banking and accounts

Account opening, balances, statements, transfers, card management. The visible part is a handful of screens; the work is the ledger, the permissions and the states underneath them.

Payments and wallets

Taking money, holding it, moving it, paying it out. Integrations with processors and acquirers, plus the reconciliation that proves at the end of each day that what you think happened is what actually happened.

Benefits and credit platforms

Our work on Clickvale is this category: employers managing limits and cash flow on one side, employees using credit and benefits on the other, with the financial intelligence in between.

Embedded finance

You are not a bank, but your product now moves money — a marketplace paying out sellers, a platform extending credit, a loyalty scheme where points behave like currency. The moment your app touches funds it inherits fintech’s requirements, whether or not you call yourself a fintech.

What separates fintech from other software

In most applications, an occasional glitch is an annoyance. In financial software it is a discrepancy someone has to explain. These are the problems that make fintech engineering different, and the ones we design for before writing a feature:

  • The same request must not charge twice. Networks drop, users tap again, retries happen. Operations that move money need to be safe to repeat — get this wrong and you find out through refunds and angry support tickets.
  • A balance is a consequence, not a field. Storing a number and adjusting it is how balances silently drift. We build the movements as an append-only record and derive the balance from it, so every value can be explained by the entries behind it.
  • Reconciliation is a feature. Your ledger and the processor’s must agree, and when they do not, someone needs a report that shows exactly where. If reconciliation is not in the plan, it becomes a monthly spreadsheet ritual forever.
  • Failure states are the product. What happens when the processor times out after taking the money but before confirming? Designing those paths deliberately is most of the difference between a payments product that survives its first bad week and one that does not.

Security and compliance, designed in

Security in financial products is architecture, not a hardening pass before launch. From the first decision we build with encrypted connections and storage, strong and biometric authentication, role-based access so each person sees only what their job requires, and audit trails that record who did what and when.

On the regulatory side we build toward the requirements your product will be measured against — identity verification and KYC flows, anti-fraud controls and monitoring, data handling that stands up to review, and integrations with the vendors who specialise in each. We architect for how the product will be audited and operated, not just for how it launches.

To be precise about what that means: we are your engineering team, not your compliance authority. Your licensing, your regulatory posture and your certifications stay yours — we build software that supports them and we work alongside whoever advises you on them. Any firm that promises to make you compliant is selling something it cannot deliver.

The integrations that decide the project

Fintech timelines are set by the third parties involved more than by the feature list. Payment processors and acquirers, banking-as-a-service providers, KYC and identity vendors, anti-fraud services, open finance APIs — each with its own sandbox, its own approval process, and its own idea of how long onboarding takes.

We map these before quoting: which providers, whether their sandbox reflects production, what their approval timeline actually is, and what your product does while approval is pending. If you have not chosen providers yet, we will tell you which ones fit your model and which will make the build harder than it needs to be.

Why building fintech in Atlanta is different

Atlanta is one of the world’s payments capitals. A large share of U.S. card transactions is processed by companies headquartered in the metro area, and that concentration shapes everything around it — the talent pool understands settlement and chargebacks, the partners are local, and the buyers evaluating your product have often worked inside the industry themselves.

The practical consequence for a founder here: your product will be judged by people who know what questions to ask. Building something that survives that scrutiny is a different exercise from building something that demos well.

We work with a partner based in Atlanta for scoping and account management, and a senior engineering team one to two hours from Eastern Time — which matters more in fintech than elsewhere, because the questions that come up mid-build usually cannot wait until tomorrow.
